Salisbury (MA) Firefighter Dies After Being Injured at Station

Update: Officials say a Salisbury firefighter was killed after a fire department vehicle he was working on at headquarters slipped from a jack and landed on him.

Salisbury Deputy Fire Chief Steven LeSage said, "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Salisbury fire Lt. Tim Oliveria who passed away this afternoon." Lt. Oliveria was injured in an accident that occurred at the Lafayette Street Fire Headquarters Friday afternoon while working on a department vehicle.

A Salisbury firefighter was seriously injured Friday when he was crushed by a vehicle behind the fire station.

The firefighter, a man in his 50s, was working on a vehicle behind the Lafayette Road fire station when it fell on him. Fire officials did not specify what kind of vehicle fell on him, but did say it was not a fire engine.

The firefighter, said to be a lieutenant and a mechanic for the department, was initially taken to Anna Jaques Hospital but was then flown to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Dallas (TX) Firefighter Dies After Being Found Unresponsive at Station

A Dallas firefighter has died after he was found unresponsive. The 32 year-old firefighter was attached to Fire Station 49.

Reports indicate other firefighters found him Thursday morning and performed CPR.

He was rushed to Methodist Charlton Medical Center where he later died. The cause of death has not been released.

Man Crashes Truck into IL Fire Station

People in one southern Illinois town are without their fire department. That's because a vehicle crashed into the New Haven Volunteer Fire Station and Senior Citizens building early Thursday morning in Gallatin County. Police say the driver was under the influence.

These New Haven fire trucks are trapped inside their own fire station.

"You think a pick-up hits it and a big strong building like this would withstand that, but if you hit anything in the right place, it's going to do a lot of damage," Mayor Kevin Edmonds said.

OH Fire Station a Potential Fire Hazard

One Chillicothe firefighter has new job duties on each shift - walking around the firehouse to make sure the place isn't on fire.

Chillicothe Fire Station No.1, the only one staffed in the city following budget cuts, is officially considered a potential fire hazard.

The fire-detection and alarm system at the main station downtown on Water Street hasn't worked for at least a year, perhaps longer. And, the sprinkler system had not been inspected.

To avoid being ordered to vacate its only station, the department now must assign firefighters - who can perform no other duties - to a 24/7 "fire watch."
